[title of show]
07.05.08 (Broadway) (Russell Master)
Hunter Bell, Susan Blackwell, Heidi Blickenstaff, Jeff Bowen
Notes: First Broadway Preview; mostly full stage shots with some close ups throughout; slight camera wandering but not too much; tape switch during "Christine's Message" but nothing else is lost; great video on a great night for the fans of the show A-
9 to 5
09.13.08 (Los Angeles) (Juni's Master)
Allison Janney, Stephanie J. Block, Megan Hilty, Marc Kudisch, Andy Karl, Kathy Fitzgerald, Ioana Alfonso, Dan Cooney, Ann Harada, Van Hughes, Karen Murphy, Charlie Pollock, Tory Ross, Maia Nkenge Wilson, Timothy George Anderson, Justin Bohon, Lisa Howard
Notes: Filmed in 16:9 widescreen. Shot during previews, so many bits of dialogue are different from what they ended up with. This was also before they changed the ending of Out of Control when Stephanie got to sing that really high note at the end. But a fantastic, great energy performance, especially from the three leads; minor obstruction by a head but is well shot around. Mostly steady filming with a good mix of wide and zoomed shots. Excellent sound; fun ad-libs, nice video A

Allison Janney, Stephanie J. Block, Megan Hilty, Marc Kudisch, Andy Karl, Kathy Fitzgerald, Ioana Alfonso, Dan Cooney, Ann Harada, Van Hughes, Karen Murphy, Charlie Pollock, Tory
Ross, Maia Nkenge Wilson
Notes: Shot from mid mezzanine; no head obstructions so a very clear shot; a bit shaky for the first number but steady after. a good mix of wide shots and medium shots, with close ups during solo numbers; two minor blackouts for one minute each during a dialogue scene during the first act due to latecomer seating; very nice clear video; 2 discs

Block (Judy), Megan Hilty (Doralee), Marc Kudisch (Mr. Hart), Kathy Fitzgerald (Roz), Andy Karl (Joe), Ioana Alfonso (Maria), Dan Cooney (Dick), Ann Harada (Kathy), Lisa Howard (Missy), Van Hughes (Josh), Karen Murphy (Margaret), Charlie Pollock (Dwayne), Tory Ross (Daphne), etc.
Notes: This is ACT I ONLY of 9 to 5's opening night on Broadway. Shot in 16:9 widescreen. Overall, the DVD is pretty good. The only exceptions are "9 to 5" (because of ushers/being cautious), the second half of "I Just Might" (because of the heads in my way and the staging), and the scene right before "Backwoods Barbie" (more ushers, ugh). Other than that, there are a few random coverups, the longest being about a minute at the end of the dream sequences. The camera also wanders sometimes because there was a noise behind me that sounded like a door opening; happened every once in a while and I kept checking behind me. There are sometimes heads in the wide shots when I zoomed out to get the whole picture, but I don't think they're overly distracting by any means.
--.--.12 (UK Tour)
Marlon Moore as (u/s) Franklyn Hart, Jackie Clune, Natalie Casey, Amy Lennox, Bonnie Langford, Mark Willshire.
Notes: A beautiful capture in 16:9 wide-screen of this feisty, fun and fabulous show with an amazing cast. The trio simply steals the show whenever they are on stage. A+

Notes: mp4 files; Really beautiful shot in an intimate space. Lots of zooms, but a good amount of wider shots too with a very limited (almost nonexistent) amount of heads. The lighting in this theater really liked my camera and I know the show almost “by heart” so I think I followed the action as well as possible. My battery died during the last song, but it starts at the very beginning with only one drop out during dialogue.

09.--.13 (Lost Angeles)
Payson Lewis (Peter), Jonah Platt (Jason), Lindsay Pearce (Ivy), Katie Stevens (Nadia), Nathan Parrett (Matt), Stephanie Anderson (Sister Chantelle), Alisa-Nicole Koblentz (Claire)
Notes: Both Payson and Jonah are my favourite Peter and Jason, respectively. No one will ever be able to top them, in my opinion. They are giving their all in this performance, although with the rest of the cast, and it is clear that all of these people are truly invested in these performances.
Notes: mp4; This is a pro shot. As expected, this boot is beautiful! The camera is actually rather shaky when it’s handheld, but the quality is so incredible that it doesn’t hurt it too much! And the audio is stunning. Extremely recommended, even if you aren’t into the show! This is an incredible introduction to an under-rated show!

Beautiful: The Carole King Musical
12.15.15 (Chicago)
Abby Mueller (Carole King), Liam Tobin (Gerry Goffin), Becky Gulsvig (Cynthia Weil), Ben Fankhauser (Barry Mann)

Notes: Original mp4 files; Taken during one of the first previews! There will definitely be some slight line changes in songs and dialogue. Can be a bit obstructed from the right side at times, but the closeups are beautiful. I have the original files from the master; not any of the crap quality youtube leaks.

Notes: Full HD stageshot filmed from the front orchestra! This is fairly better than the other stageshot, including less heads, more facial features, but one major head that's sometimes filmed around whenever the master isn't wandering downward. It includes full Act One and Act Two starting at Beetlejuice's entrance after Girl Scout through Curtain Call! This is the 380.5 MB YouTube .mp4 rip. To be gifted only!

Notes: Phone boot filmed wide from the right orchestra. Some obstruction throughout and the 2nd act points up a lot, some action lost. Had to endure being surrounded by a MAGA family of like 20+ people who can sometimes be heard. C+ .mp4

Notes: Final performance. An electric performance right from the start. The enthusiastic audience is extremely supportive, and the cast gives emotional performances. Steve Martin joins the band for the Entr’Acte, and there’s a standing ovation for him, as well as for Carmen following At Long Last. There were no speeches given, but the curtain call was much longer than usual with Steve, Edie, and Walter all taking bows, and Steve doing a short impromptu tap number. This is beautifully captured with no obstruction. There is a one minute blackout over the first scene just before She’s Gone, but the rest of the show is complete. There is some slight washout in a few of the wider shots. It’s filmed in 16:9, with a mix of wides, mediums, and close-ups. The sound is excellent. Includes the entire extended curtain call and playbill scans.

Disenchanted
12.28.14 (Off-Broadway)
Snow White: Michelle Knight, Cinderella: Becky Gulsvig, Sleeping Beauty: Jen Bechter, Hua Mulan/Pocahontas/Princess Badroulbadour: Lulu Picart, Belle/The Little Mermaid/Rapunzel: Alison Burns, The Princess Who Kissed the Frog: Soara-Joye Ross
Notes: A great capture of this hilarious parody musical. No Disney princess is safe from mocking, and no princess is who you thought they were; Cinderella is a ditz, Belle is certifiable, Mulan is a lesbian, Ariel is a drunk, and much much more. The entire cast is fantastic, but Lulu is the standout with her amazing belt. This is a good capture overall with no washout and only minor obstruction, but there are a few blackouts. Four of the first five minutes are blacked out, there is a three-minute blackout for the audience participation during Not V’one Red Cent, a six minute blackout during Perfect, and the last two minutes of the final song are blacked out. There is also one head that blocks a small part of the front/center part of the stage, but it only ever blocks the actors' feet/legs. It’s filmed in 16:9, with a mix of wides, mediums, and close-ups. The sound is very good overall, but there is more shuffling and static than usual; all of the dialogue and songs are listenable. Includes playbill scans. Overall Rating: A-
Dog and Pony
06.07.14 (San Diego, CA)

Notes: First act is blind shot with no zooms, but well captured in spite of that with most of the action there and just the extreme sides being blocked by two heads. Act two is much better, filmed with the normal zooms and following the action well; the heads are still there on the right and left, but they only block the actors feet; no washout, no blackouts, and good sound 2 DVDs A-

03.25.08 (Broadway)
Patti Lupone, Boyd Gaines, Laura Benanti, Leigh Ann Larkin, Tony Yazbeck, Marilyn Caskey, Alison Fraser, Lenora Nemetz, Katie Micha.
Notes: The Ultimate Gypsy because someone has taken the time to master this recording with all the cover-ups in the original filled in. Color and sound correction. Crystal clarity. Railing in the way for wider shots, but mostly an amazing video. A not to be missed production, very detailed and near perfection. Beautifully captured, knock out closeups and performances that rival the definition of musical theater. A
07.05.08 (Broadway) (Russell Master)

Act two is much better, filmed with the normal zooms and following the action well; the heads are still there on the right and left, but they only block the actors feet; no washout, no blackouts, and good sound 2 DVDs A-

05.12.12 (Encores!)
Megan Hilty, Rachel York, Aaron Lazar, Steven Boyer, Brennan Brown, Stephen R. Buntrock, Simon Jones, Deborah Rush, Sandra Shipley, Megan Sikora, Clarke Thorell
Notes: Filmed from the back of the balcony. Many heads appear in the frame to start, then when the filmer gets his bearings, the video improves greatly. There are a few times (mostly at the beginning) when the filmer replaces some poor video moments with still shots. These still shots are less than 2 or 3 minutes of the entire show. Great video A
